Alaska Theatre of Youth

The February Drama Classes run every Saturday February 4th-25th at Aquarian Charter School.

Each Class is $80 but you can take two classes for $125!

Come learn the basics of Puppetry from local puppeteer and artist Justin Stewart!  You’ll be palling around with new felt friends before you know it!

11:45am-1:15pm-Scene Study

Scenework, the bulk of acting but so seldom the focus of workshops. Read a script and don't know what to do with your character? Baffled why they seem to do a 180? Get handed a side at auditions and don't really know what's going on in the rest of the play? Then this workshop is for you! We will cover developing relationships, tactics, discoveries and more!

1:30-3:00 – Movement for the Actor

Taught by Alaskan actor and playwright Andrea Staats, this class will help you to get comfortable with moving onstage.  What should I do with my hands?  How does my character walk?  How should I stand?  JEEZIE PETES, WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITH MY HANDS?!  All these questions and more will be answered in our “Movement for the actor class”.

3:15-4:45 – Acting 101

It’s time for an acting lesson!  With instructor Max Aronson, students will learn text analysis, character work, and how to really dissect a play.  For older students only!  See you in class.
