Serving Alaska's Youth Since 1984
Alaska Theatre of Youth is proud to present its 33rd Season of Plays!
Frogs, or The Frogs, is one of Aristophanes' greatest comedies and is justly celebrated for its wit and keen commentary on Athenian politics and society. It is the last surviving work of Old Comedy and is thus also notable for heralding a passing era of literature. While it is a comedy, it is also a trenchant political satire and expresses Aristophanes' views on Athenian democracy, the value of poetry, and good old fashioned silliness!
Runs October 21st-23rd at Anchorage Community Theatre. Shows are Friday at 10am and 7pm, Saturday at 3pm and 7pm, and Sunday at 3pm.

Singin' in the Rain JR.
Screenplay by Betty Comden and Adolph Green
Songs by Arthur Freed and Nacio Herb Brown
Based on the classic Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film, by special arrangement with Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures, Inc. Produced by special arrangement with Music Theatre International
Singin' in the Rain JR. has all the makings of a Tinseltown tabloid headline – the starlet, the leading man and a love affair that could change lives and make or break careers! In silent movies, Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont are a hot item, but behind the scenes, things aren't always as they appear on the big screen! Meanwhile, Lina's squeaky voice might be the end of her career in "talking pictures" without the help of a talented young actress to do the talking and singing for her.
Runs February 10th-12th at APU Grant Hall
The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales
by John Gore, based on the book by Jon Sciezka and Lane Smith
Produced by special arrangement with Playscripts, INC
Though the characters may be familiar, each of your favorite storybook fables is uproariously derailed in this adaptation of Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith's quintessential children's book of fractured fairy tales. Everything from "Chicken Little" to "The Gingerbread Man" gets a complete makeover. Fun music and witty narration accompany the likes of ineloquent giants, sassy barnyard animals, colossal cow pies, and enough stinky cheese to go around.
Runs April 14th-16th at Anchorage Community Theatre
