POSITIONS AVAILABLE: Conservatory Teaching Artists (Directors, Choreographers, Music Directors, Stage Managers, Specialty Workshop Instructors, Technical Theatre Artists)

WHEN: Flexible scheduling, May 24th - August 11th

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • 2+ years experience in teaching acting, music, dance, playwriting, devising, and/or other theatrical disciplines.Professional production experience in any capacity (acting, directing, orchestra, backstage crew, production team, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks within identified timeframes. 
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff for cross-curriculum training.
  • Teach assigned class material as related to the goals of the day.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and Mandatory Reporting training.
  • Availability to attend a Teacher Training Workshop at the beginning of summer 2023, Mid May.


RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Lead learning objectives and maintain classroom management.
  • Prepare material for specialty classes as necessary based on the objectives outlined by ATY.
  • Teach across multiple age groups as assigned. 
  • Address the learning needs of diverse student populations. 
  • Collaborate with other Teaching Artists and Production Staff to culminate each camp in a fully produced theatrical performance
  • ATY celebrates diversity and inclusivity at every level. We expect our artists to carry that vision into the classroom to create a welcoming and supportive environment where everyone can thrive.


PAY: Teaching Artists will be paid $20-$30/hour, based on camp assignment and commensurate with experience.

Assistant Teaching Artists


Alaska Theatre of Youth is seeking enthusiastic Assistant Teaching Artists with experience in any theatre disciplines including acting, musical theatre, and stage craft. The Assistant Teaching Artist has a very important role at ATY Summer Conservatory! During classes, Assistant TAs support the lesson of the Teaching Artist, while supporting students and providing examples and helping to learn material. Assistant TAs will be given the opportunity to develop and hone their own teaching abilities, within their own comfort level.

Teaching Artists


​Alaska Theatre of Youth needs qualified Teaching Artists for Summer 2023 programming! We are seeking experienced TAs with expertise in all theatre disciplines including acting, musical theatre, and stage craft. Teaching Artists build an inclusive and creative experience for community organizations and the students we serve. Most camps culminate in a fully produced performance for family and friends. 

POSITIONS AVAILABLE: Teaching Assistants (Partnered with master teaching artists in above subject areas)

WHEN: Flexible scheduling, May 24th - August 11th

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Experience working young people in any capacity including babysitting, volunteering, or teaching 
  • Experience in Theatre and previous involvement with ATY a plus! 
  • Interest in education and teaching artist work a plus! 
  • Must be 16 years of age or older.


RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Be an example for a group of young people 
  • Support Teaching Artists' lesson plan by example  
  • Help support positive choices by young people in class 
  • Keep a positive example for students and teaching artists! 
  • Collaborate with other Teaching Artists & Assistants
