We are so excited that you are interested in auditioning for Founders Keepers. Everything you need to prepare for auditions is included on this page. Please read through the information carefully before contacting us with questions.

Quick Start

To audition, please complete the following steps:

1. Sign up for an audition time - ALL AUDITION SLOTS ARE FULL - See below for VIDEO AUDITION Instructions
2. Complete the audition form.
3. Prepare a monologue.
4. Attend your scheduled audition OR send your video to aty@alaskatheatreofyouth.org

Audition Requirements

Open to actors age 10+

To be considered for Founders, Keepers, each actor should prepare:

A one-minute monologue that showcases their acting range.
Actors auditioning for both Legally Blonde, Jr AND Founders Keepers can pick a monologue from either show, or a monologue of their own choosing.

The nation is in crisis. Washington DC is burning and the government has assembled five 5th grade girls to rewrite the Constitution of the United States. Friendships form and break as these young women struggle with grief, power, and what it means to grow up in a broken democracy.

Video Auditions

You may submit a video audition. Please email your audition materials to: aty@alaskatheatreofyouth.org

Your video audition should include:

  • Your name & Age

  • Your monologue

Please include the actor’s full name in the subject line or body of the email.
Video auditions must be received by August 21.


Important Dates

Auditions: Friday and Saturday, August 21 & 22

Callbacks: Sunday, August 23

First Rehearsal: late August

Tech Week: September 27-Oct 1

Performances: October 2 & 3

Participation Information

Age: 10+

Rehearsal Schedule: Coming soon!

Production Fee: $100 Need-based scholarship applications are available.

All known rehearsal and performance conflicts must be listed on the audition form. Significant conflicts may affect casting and will be at the determination of the director.

Character Descriptions

Tabitha - 11 1⁄2. An unreliable voice of reason who clings onto her friends for dear life. Favorite animal: dolphins and sharks.

Gillian - 11. Has probably read Harry Potter 5 times. Hides her weirdness in order to stay “popular”. Favorite animal: foxes.

Nicole - 10. Powerful, but extremely insecure. Way too serious for her age. Favorite animal: tigers and other big cats.

Imogen - 9. Wears the same cardigan every day. Hasn’t washed her hair today. Always tense because she carries a lot of grief in her little body. Favorite animal: betta fish.

Winnie - 10. BRACES. Has a lot to say but isn’t sure how to say it. Unapologetic when she can afford to be. Favorite animal: she is connected to horses on a spiritual level but is NOT a horse girl. Mysterious woman - Come on, not that old. Woman - Old. Animals are messy.
