Everything you need to prepare for auditions is included on this page. Please read through the information carefully before contacting us with questions.
Quick Start
To audition, please complete the following steps:
1. Sign up for an audition time.
2. Complete the audition form.
3. Prepare a song and monologue.
4. Learn the dance combination.
5. Attend your scheduled audition and dance call.

Audition Requirements
Please prepare the following:
Approximately one minute of an upbeat song that shows your vocal range
A one-minute monologue
The audition dance combination
You may use one of the monologue options provided below or select a monologue of your own choosing.
Sides may also be provided for cold readings if time allows.
Video Auditions
Unable to attend the scheduled auditions or no sign-ups available? You may submit a video audition. Please email your audition materials to: aty@alaskatheatreofyouth.org
Your video audition should include:
Your name & Age
Your song
Your monologue
The dance combination
Please include the actor’s full name in the subject line or body of the email.
Video auditions must be received by August 21.

Important Dates
Auditions: Friday and Saturday, August 21 & 22
Callbacks: Sunday, August 23
First Rehearsal: Tuesday, August 25
Tech Week: November 1-6
Performances: November 6-15; Fridays at 7pm, Saturdays TBD, Sundays at 3pm; TWO school shows Thursday, November 5 at 10:30am and Tuesday, November 10th at 10:30am.
Participation Information
Age: 12-18
Rehearsal Schedule: Generally Mondays-Thursdays 5:30-8pm with some choreo bootcamps on special Saturdays
Production Fee: $100 Need-based scholarship applications are available.
All known rehearsal and performance conflicts must be listed on the audition form. Significant conflicts may affect casting and will be at the determination of the director.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN
Elle Woods
Elle Woods may appear like a typical blonde California sorority girl, but don't count her out. She is hardworking, optimistic and tenacious.
Vocal range top: F5
Vocal range bottom: F#3
Gender: female
Margot, Serena, and Pilar Margot, Serena, and Pilar
Margot, Serena and Pilare are Elle's trio of best friends and Delta Nu sisters.
Vocal range top: C#5

Kate
Kate is a featured Delta Nu sister - the acedemic of the bunch.
Gender: female
Warner Huntington III
He is Elle's ex-boyfriend and caught between his former life with Elle and his newfound serious East Coast life with Vivienne. Gender: male
Admission Officers
Winthrop, Lowell and Pforzheimer are three admissions officers of Harvard Law School who eventually admit Elle into the program after some critical evaluation. These performers should be great actors, capable of showing some age and character. Gender: any
Emmett Forrest
Emmet Forrest has had to work hard his entire life to get into Harvard Law School, and nothing is going to come between him and becoming a partner in Callahan's law firm, except maybe his surprising love for Elle.

Law Students
Aaron Schultz, Sundeep Agrawal Padamadan and Enid Hoopes are three featured law students with acedemic credits that would intimidate anyone. These are fun roles for actors who can really bring their unique selves to these parts. Gender: any
Vivienne Kensington
Vivienne Kensington is the very opposite of Elle, if judging only by demeanor. She comes from a very conservative East Coast background and is everything that Warner needs to make a serious move to become a lawyer. Gender: female
Whitney
Whitney is Vivienne's law school friend and partner in mischief when it comes to bringing down Elle. Gender: female
Professor Callahan
Professor Callahan is the most-feared professor at Harvard Law School. Be sure to find ayoung man who can convey authority and strength. Gender: male
Paulette
Paulette is a wonderful role for your best comedienne. While she is a bold character, her self-esteem needs a little boost now and then. Gender: female
Brooke Wyndam
Brooke Wyndham is a famous fitness video guru on trial for killing her husband. This is a high-spirited role for a young lady who is a triple-threat: a great singer, dancer and actress. Gender: female
Dewey
Paulette's brash ex-husband who lives in a trailer and holds her dog captive. Gender: male
Chutney Wyndham
Chutney Wyndham has a really bad perm and an even worse attitude. She is Brooke'unhappy stepdaughter who is actually guilty for killing her father and framing Brooke. Gender: female
Kyle
Kyle is the UPS delivery man who Paulette has her eyes on each time his job brings him to the salon. Gender: male
