ATY offers classes, workshops, Play in a Day, spring & winter break camps, and in-service
programming throughout the school year - with offerings for all ages and skill levels!

All classes take place at 4105 Turnagain Blvd in the Turnagain Arts Building in Spenard (unless indicated otherwise). Enter through the SOUTH ENTRANCE (the outside entrances are labeled) and ATY is immediately to the right and left.

Camps, Classes & Workshops

Drama Center Classes
are BACK!

Drama Center classes take place after school from 4-8pm. Each class is one hour long, once per week and last 4-8 weeks. We also offer select Homeschool classes during the school day. Special classes and workshops take place on weekends and in-service days. Classes are $20-25 per class depending on length and frequency. Programming available for students ages 4-18.

Monday Classes

Homeschool Acting

Welcome to Homeschool Acting, where young performers can explore their creativity and discover the joy of acting! Students will build confidence, enhance their acting skills, and learn the fundamentals of character development. This inclusive and supportive environment encourages self-expression and teamwork, making it a perfect space for both beginners and experienced actors. Get ready to step into the spotlight and bring your imagination to life!

When: Mondays, September 8-October 20 from 11:00-am-12:00pm. (Class will not meet 10/13)

Ages: 8-18

Cost: $150 (6 Week Class)

Fairytale Theatre

Escape into the magical world of fairytales! This beginner level theatre class is perfect for our youngest thespians. As we embark on adventures laced with Royalty, Dragons, and Fairy God Parents from the safety of our classroom, this class will spark curiosity, empathy, and creative problem solving. We will use our imaginations to explore some of time’s most beloved fairy tale stories, and the lessons held within. 

When: Mondays, September 22-October 20 from 5:30-6:30. (Class will not meet 10/13)

Ages: 4-7

Musical Theatre Dance

This class offers a fun and energetic environment where students have the opportunity to explore various Musical Theatre Dance styles. With a focus on technique, creativity, and self-expression, participants will improve their coordination, flexibility, and confidence as they learn exciting choreography. No prior experience is necessary—just bring your enthusiasm and a love for movement!

When: Mondays, Sept. 8-October 20 from 6:30-7:30pm. (Class will not meet 10/13)

Ages: 8-18

Tuesday Classes

Intro to Improv

Step into a world of spontaneity and laughter! This Intro to Improv class encourages young performers to think on their feet and unleash their creativity through fun games and exercises. Students will learn the fundamentals of improvisation, including character building, storytelling, and quick thinking, all while fostering teamwork and confidence. Discover the joy of performing without a script and get ready to “Yes, And!” your way into this barrel of monkeys! 

When: Tuesdays, September 2-October 14 from 5:15-6:15pm. (Class will not met 9/23)

Ages: 8-12

Intro to Acting

Brand new to acting and the wide world of theatre? Step out of your comfort zone to explore the very basics of theatre in an opening and encouraging class environment. Together we will learn how to use our bodies, voices, and imaginations to create characters and tell stories, and promote the confidence needed to do so in front of an audience of our peers. This class serves as a wonderful opportunity to shape the foundation for further acting training. 

When: Tuesdays, September 2-October 21 from 6:30-7:30pm.

Ages: 8-12

Cost: $200 (8 Week Class)

Acting Level 1

Ready to delve deeper into your craft? Acting 1 is the perfect place to challenge yourself to go beyond the basics of acting to truly embody a character and tell their story. Together we will work on script analysis, character work, diction, emotional honesty, and movement. This class will use a combination of open scenes, short scenes, and monologues to apply the work independently and with your peers. Welcome to the next step in building your actors toolbox!

When: Tuesdays, September 2-October 21 from 7:45-8:45pm.

Ages: 10-14

Wednesday Classes

Homeschool Improv

Step into a world of spontaneity and laughter! This Homeschool Improv class encourages young performers to think on their feet. It's the perfect opportunity to make new friends, boost self-esteem, and discover the joy of performing without a script. No experience necessary, just bring your imagination!

When: Wednesdays, September 3-October 29 from 11:00am-12:00pm. (Class will not meet 10/22)

Thursday Classes

Musical Theatre Voice

Unlock your vocal potential! This class provides a fun and supportive environment to explore vocal techniques, breath control, and song interpretation. Students will engage in warm-ups, exercises, and song analysis, helping them build confidence and improve their singing and overall performance skills. Musical Theatre Voice encourages self-expression and creativity through music. Join us to start discovering your unique sound!

When: Thursdays, September 11-October 2 from 5:30-6:30pm.

Ages: 10-18

Teaching Artist: Hannah Klemm

Cost: $100 (4 Week Class)

Advanced Improv A

Ready for more of a challenge? This Advanced Improv class challenges young performers to expand beyond the basics of, to delve deeper into character building, storytelling, and acting in both short and long-form improvisation styles! Students will be asked to think on their feet, and rely on their fellow actors to “Yes, and” every choice they throw out! The only limitations are your own imagination. This class is reserved for seasoned improvisers ages 12 and under!

When: Thursdays, September 4-October 16 from 6:40-7:40pm. (Class will not meet 9/25)

Ages: 10-18

Cost: $150 (6 Week Class)

Advanced Improv B

Ready for more of a challenge? This Advanced Improv class challenges young performers to expand beyond the basics of, to delve deeper into character building, storytelling, and acting in both short and long-form improvisation styles! What is Drama Center?
Drama Center encompasses all of ATY’s after school classes, in-service programming, spring and winter break programming, special classes and workshops, and more!

Where do Drama Center classes take place?
Most classes take place at our studio in the Turnagain Arts Building. 4105 Turnagain Blvd. Classes not taking place in the ATY studio will be noted directly in the class description and on the registration page.

I signed up for a 4-week session, will this class take place again next month?
Improv, Acting and Fairytale afterschool classes are recurring classes that happen every month in 4-6 week sessions. Specialty classes like puppetry, stage combat, dance, music theatre and others may only run for a limited number of weeks.
