ATY offers classes, workshops, Play in a Day, spring & winter break camps, and in-service
programming throughout the school year - with offerings for all ages and skill levels!
All classes take place at 4105 Turnagain Blvd in the Turnagain Arts Building in Spenard (unless indicated otherwise). Enter through the SOUTH ENTRANCE (the outside entrances are labeled) and ATY is immediately to the right and left.

Drama Center Classes
are BACK!
Drama Center classes take place after school from 4-8pm. Each class is one hour long, once per week and last 4-8 weeks. We also offer select Homeschool classes during the school day. Special classes and workshops take place on weekends and in-service days. Classes are $20-25 per class depending on length and frequency. Programming available for students ages 4-18.

Monday Classes
Step into a world of spontaneity and laughter! This Intro to Improv class encourages young performers to think on their feet and unleash their creativity through fun games and exercises. Students will learn the fundamentals of improvisation, including character building, storytelling, and quick thinking, all while fostering teamwork and confidence. Discover the joy of performing without a script and get ready to “Yes, And!” your way into this barrel of monkeys!
When: Mondays, January 12-February 9 from 11:00am-12:00pm. (Class will not met 1/19 or 2/16 in honor of MLK Day & Presidents’ Day.)
Ages: 8-18

Cost: $100 (4 Week Class)

This Advanced Improv class is perfect for students with previous improv experience! Students will build upon the fundamentals of improvisation, and explore both short and long form improv! It's the perfect opportunity to make new friends, boost self-esteem, and discover the joy of performing without a script. No preparation necessary, just bring your imagination!
When: Mondays, January 12-February 9 from 6:45-7:45pm. (Class will not met 1/19 or 2/16.)

Tuesday Classes
Auditioning the Song
This new class offering is designed specifically for students looking to conquer what can be the scariest part of any theatrical process - the auditions! This class will help you gain a deeper understanding of your vocal audition, from choosing the song to workshopping the material for an incredibly detailed, professional level performance. This class will wrestle stage fright to the ground through preparation and confidence boosting coaching!
When: Tuesdays, January 13, January 27th, and February 10th from 5:30-6:30pm.
Ages: 8-12

Cost: $30 (3 Weeks)

Brand new to acting and the wide world of theatre? Step out of your comfort zone to explore the very basics of theatre in an opening and encouraging class environment. Together we will learn how to use our bodies, voices, and imaginations to create characters and tell stories, and promote the confidence needed to do so in front of an audience of our peers. This class serves as a wonderful opportunity to shape the foundation for further acting training.
When: Tuesdays, January 13-February 17 from 6:45-7:45pm
Ages: 8-12

Cost: $160 (6 Week Class)
Acting Level 1
Ready to delve deeper into your craft? Acting 1 is the perfect place to challenge yourself to go beyond the basics of acting to truly embody a character and tell their story. Together we will work on script analysis, character work, diction, emotional honesty, and movement. This class will use a combination of monologues (solo storytelling) and scene work (group storytelling) as our mediums. Welcome to the next step in building your actors toolbox!
When: Tuesdays, January 13-February 17 from 7:45-8:45pm
Ages: 10-14

Wednesday Classes
Whether you’re brand new to acting and the wide world of theatre or a seasoned actor, Homeschool Acting has something for you! Step out of your comfort zone to explore the very basics of theatre in an opening and encouraging class environment. Together we will learn how to use our bodies, voices, and imaginations to create characters and tell stories, and promote the confidence needed to do so in front of an audience of our peers. This class serves as a wonderful opportunity to build and shape the foundation for further acting training, specifically designed for our homeschool actors.
When: Wednesdays, January 14-February 18 from 11:00-12:00pm
Ages: 8-18

Broadway Bound: Wicked Edition
Get ready to defy gravity this winter with our Wicked-themed Musical Theatre Winter Break Camp! Designed for performers ages 8-15, this immersive experience will take place from December 29th to December 31st and January 2nd, 9 AM to 4 PM daily.
Participants will delve into the enchanting world of Oz, where they'll learn iconic songs and re-imagined scenes from the beloved musical, enhance their acting, singing, and dancing skills, and gain valuable stage experience. Led by experienced instructors, actors will engage in fun workshops, collaborate on performance pieces, and build lasting friendships in a supportive and creative environment. Plus, join us for a special showcase on the final day, where campers will perform for family and friends! Don’t let the winter blues get you down—sign up now to be part of this magical experience!

What is Drama Center?
Drama Center encompasses all of ATY’s after school classes, in-service programming, spring and winter break programming, special classes and workshops, and more!
Where do Drama Center classes take place?
Most classes take place at our studio in the Turnagain Arts Building. 4105 Turnagain Blvd. Classes not taking place in the ATY studio will be noted directly in the class description and on the registration page.
I signed up for a 4-week session, will this class take place again next month?
Improv, Acting and Fairytale afterschool classes are recurring classes that happen every month in 4-6 week sessions. Specialty classes like puppetry, stage combat, dance, music theatre and others may only run for a limited number of weeks.
