AUDITIONS

ATY does not pre-cast roles, play favorites or discriminate. We believe everyone should be treated equally regardless of race, sex, gender identification, sexual orientation, national origin, native language, religion, age, disability, body type or any other characteristic. We strongly believe that our differences, as well as our unique experiences and stories make us stronger and we invite all who are interested to audition!

Miss Nelson Is Missing

Based on the books by Harry Allard, Adapted by Jeffery Hatcher

Directed by Krista Schwarting

Show runs February 26th-March 4th

Open to Actors Ages 8-18 yrs old

Miss Nelson can't control her crazy classroom because she's just too nice. But when she disappears, her replacement is the hard-as-nails, detention-loving, recess-canceling, homework-overloading substitute teacher Viola Swamp! With the Big Test approaching, the kids suddenly realize how much they miss Miss Nelson and they'll do anything -- including hiring a private eye -- to solve the mystery of her disappearance and bring her back.

*This run includes 3 school show performances, where actors will need to miss a half-day of school!*

Each actor will have roughly five minutes with the director and stage manager to present a monologue of around a minute or less. The director might ask for you to present part of the monologue again, with a redirect to see you make a different choice! If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact austynd@alaskatheatreofyouth.org

Audition forms available here, fill out prior to auditioning if possible!

If you don't already have a monologue to use, please feel free to choose one from here. The monologue does not need to be memorized, but we encourage you to be familiar with it!
